Well, this is exciting. About two weeks ago, I joined a campaign with Lenovo, the technology company that once created processors for IBM. As a member of #LenovoMoms, I’m a member of a team using Lenovo products in my everyday life and sharing how they fit with my readers.
So, there’s something funny about Lenovo. Even though they’re the biggest brand name in tech product sales in the world, most of America is always asking, “Len-what?” Like, my husband, who asked when I shared the opportunity with him. “Len-who?” he wondered over my excitement. “Lenovo,” I replied, pointing to my desktop PC box.
Now, he’s seeing a bit more Lenovo everywhere. Like, this weekend as used the WatchESPN app to enjoy my SMU Mustangs destroy* the UConn Huskies (which wasn’t broadcast locally in Pennsylvania) on my Lenovo Yoga 10, a tablet with multiple functions.
The Yoga Tablets offer multi-function ease of use with a built-in stand that provides opportunities to use the tablets in at least 4 different ways. To watch the game this weekend, I used it in stand-mode, so it sat upright like my TV. (You can view a mode-demo here. In fact, you should. Because. Ashton. Ashton Kutcher. That’s all I need to say, right?)
I was also given the Yoga 8, which I described to my kids as a smidge smaller, but my son voiced his differing opinion,” a smidge, Mom? this is a completely different tablet. I’d much rather read or play on the small one. The big one is for watching.”
I’ve used the smaller Yoga8 (which measures 8 inches diagonally versus the 10 diagonal inches on the Yoga10) for on-the-go activities. Its smaller size fits nicely in my bags, so I’ve been using it just about everywhere outside the home. I installed my Kindle account on it for when I have time to read (it fits really nicely on the Elliptical at the gym), and I’ve been using it to check in on social media throughout the day, read blogs, and more.
Because of the Yoga8’s smaller size, I’ve found it to be perfect for taking with me even in the house as I get ready each morning for the day. I carry it into the bathroom if I’m watching a live segment on the TODAY show that I don’t want to miss, but I also need to multitask through my morning routine. Then, once the segment is over, I can quickly switch to the Sephora app when I realize I’ve run out of my favorite eye pencil. If the kids want to know the weather, a quick swipe to The Weather Channel app will help them plan what to wear each morning.
Just like with the Yoga10, I’m using the Yoga8 in the stand-mode when I’m watching. But when I need to search something (like on Amazon or Google), I flip it to tilt mode because it’s easier to type from above.
Those minutes when I have time to read? I’m holding the tablet’s “handle” (aka the built-in computer battery, which, in tech terms, is called a 2 Cell Li-Polymer battery) in hold-mode.
