About a week ago, I was conferencing with my Splash Creative Media partners when Jessica passed me a link, asking if I’d heard of Yoga Mat Flip Flops? (I hadn’t.) She went on to explain how comfortable they’re said to be, as the top layer was created from thick Yoga mat material (not, as I later explained to my sister, a recycled Yoga Mat). I followed the Amazon link and saw the variety of the shoes available. They had a little wedge to them and lots of colors. I ordered Aqua.
Two days later, I Skyped Jessica. Bring on the summer, my flip flops arrived — they were even more comfortable than I expected.
A few days later, I was walking barefoot and stubbed my little toe. Hard. I slipped on my sneakers and went to the gym for a class that required me to stand on my toes, a lot. Following, I took my daughter to swimming lessons where I took off my shoes to soak my toe in the heated pool. The toe blew up. Swollen and red, I could barely fit it back into the shoe. And I couldn’t do the stairs.
When I got home, I switched to my Sanuk Women’s Yoga Mat Flip Flop
. The yoga cushion absorbed some of the pain, but harder cushion on the bottom kept my foot flat enough when I walked that I wasn’t straining my toe with every step. While the toe continued to throb, switching to these flip flops made an enormous difference.
The flip flops offer little traction, so be careful wearing them around a slippery pool deck or wet grass. They’re perfect for casual days around the house, around town and on vacation.
Plus they’re cute!
