I’m going to take a pretty wild guess that you, like me, get swept into the deals and dreams featured on daily deal sites like Haute Look, Gilt, and, of course, Living Social and Groupon. Let’s face it. It’s hard to pass up a good deal. I’m constantly amazed at how many deal sites there are in the world.
Funny little side story for you… about 8 years ago, I approached the idea with my husband. What if we could create a website where we sold things for just one day, at a 50% discount? It’d be great marketing for the brands to get their products in so many people’s hands.
Sigh.
Anyway. Here are a few lesser-known style websites that you’ll either thank me for leading you to subscribe or hate me for it.
High-Style Daily Deals Websites
GroopDealz
GroopDealz is very accessories-focused, and you’ll see a lot of handmade items that look familiar enough that you’d think they came from style magazines. Product discounts range from 30-70% off, and prices seem to run, mostly, from $2 to $19.99 (although, currently, there are 3 items over $20–a personalized phone case and a personalized monogram necklace. According to the site, most deals run 24-48 hours, so plan to check in once a day. No app is currently available for this website, but you can like them on Facebook or follow it on Twitter.
SassySteals
In addition to daily offerings, SassySteals hosts a weekly giveaway where one person wins everything offered that week and a freebie listing, so you’ll definitely want to check in there once a week. They offer similar accessory and fashion styles as GroopDealz, but a bit more variety in that there’s more for children and your home (even holiday cards.) Prices are usually under $20, and the majority are 50% off or more. There’s an email list, and you can follow on Twitter and Pinterest and like on Facebook to keep abreast of their deals.
Very Jane
Very Jane features items up to 80%, and, like SassySteals and GroopDealz, they’re very accessory-focused (women, baby, child, and home). Most of the items here are under $20, with just two costing over today (iPad case and a bag.) Deals seem to last about 2 days, and there’s always a limited quantity.
UrbanOg
Urbanog is a regular shopping boutique that focuses on women’s fashion and trends, especially in the retro and vintage areas. Each day, they post a few of their items as “Daily Deals”, discounting prices 25-50%. Most of the clothing at UrbanOg will appeal to a teen – young twenties crowd, it’s a perfect spot to shop for gifts (and tell your younger sisters about), but there are always surprises for moms as well. Hello, boots?
Whisky Militia
Looking for a discount site for your trendy man? Whisky Malitia is an edgy option, featuring outdoor fashion with a skater-ish look (from their site, “we feature the sickest clothes and gear for both snow and skateboarding). And lots and lots of watches. While there’s some women’s fashion, this site is mainly men. Prices are about 50% off, but these are expensive items– you’re still seeing items over $100. Join and check out their “private stash,” which has a lot more variety. Some items are featured as long as 4 days.
One Kings Lane
This site is better known than the others featured here, but it’s still on the cusp of newness. One Kings Lane features gorgeous interior home decorating options, with prices averaging $200. Sales start at 8 am PT and usually last a few days. I love that they have a calendar on their site so you can get an idea of what’s coming. OKL hosts and app in addition to Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Use this link to join, and receive a $15 credit just for joining.
