3 Tips for Those Struggling to Regain Motivation for Exercising

One of the hardest parts of making a significant lifestyle change is finding the motivation to get started, especially when it comes to exercise. If you have been avoiding workouts for years or struggling to regain momentum after a long break, you may feel like you are stuck in a rut. But don’t worry, it is not as difficult as it seems! With a few simple tricks and mindset shifts, you can rediscover your drive, build healthier habits, and start feeling stronger and more energized than ever.

Write down what it is you want

Write a list of all the reasons you wanted to start exercising in the first place if you’re having trouble getting yourself to the gym or losing interest in your weekly spin class. Consider why you want to be more fit or stronger, or why you want to lose weight. Are you itching to feel more at ease on the beach or fed up with feeling tense after a long day at work? When you can’t be bothered to put on your workout DVD or are considering taking the train home instead of cycling as planned, read that list, and maybe it will provide the motivation you require.

Have fun with it!

It’s no surprise that you don’t enjoy working out if you do the same thing every time. If you’ve had your fill of the gym, yoga, or another jog around the park, try incorporating new exercises or activities into your training routine. To become in shape, you don’t need to use a treadmill or an exercise bike. You can participate in a variety of sports. Instead of riding, enrol in dance classes or go swimming. Join a local rowing club or begin weekly netball or hockey games. Use trampolines to boost your workout or visit the ice rink or the stables instead of going to the gym. Even simple equipment like a kettlebell can make strength training more exciting and effective. It doesn’t matter if you’re not lifting weights in the gym as long as your blood is flowing and you’re working up a sweat. You’re less likely to lose interest in your workouts if you mix them up, and you’ll have more fun.

Sign yourself up for a fitness challenge

When a goal is in sight, most of us work harder. If you truly want to push yourself and become more disciplined, consider doing something that requires you to raise money for a good cause or compete. You could look for hiking challenges, participate in a charity bike ride, or even set a weight loss goal and look for sponsorship. You can go it alone or enlist the help of friends, family, or coworkers. You’re more likely to put in the effort if you have other people depending on you or if you have a team cheering you on and motivating you. You’ll be getting fitter while raising money for a great cause! Everyone’s a winner!

Do you find it difficult to stay motivated when it comes to working out? Don’t worry if you’re having trouble! Take these suggestions to heart, and you’ll be back on track in no time.
