When you run a household, the jobs, demands, and messes never quite stop coming! Home management is one of the least recognized and underpaid roles in the whole world, and it can cause a lot of stress that’s hard to deal with.
After all, the pressure of keeping your house (and its inhabitants) clean, tidy, and in good condition is never-ending!
But you can beat the stress at its own game in a few crucial areas. So without further ado, if home management needs are getting on top of you, make sure you try out the 3 methods below.

Bulk Tasks as Often as Possible
When you can do two or more things in one, you’re going to save yourself at least 10 more minutes throughout the day. And if you can bulk tasks like this more than once, you could save yourself two to three hours!
A lot of people already bulk up tasks to get more done throughout the day. For example, heading grocery shopping just after you’ve dropped the kids off at school, so you don’t have to go out more than once.
But even smaller tasks should be bulked as often as possible too. When you’re waiting for a pot to boil to put pasta in, empty the laundry basket into the washing machine. Clean at the same time you cook, so you don’t have a big pile of dishes to take care of later.
These are the kind of tasks that suck up the most minutes throughout the day, so pack them into one and get them done!
Stop Trying to DIY
If you’re applying a DIY fix (or at least trying to) on every single thing that goes wrong or breaks down, you’re mounting unnecessary pressure on yourself.
Because while it can be cheaper and faster to DIY something like a blocked sink u-bend, trying to become the master of appliance repair in the little spare time you have is just a losing game!
It’s OK to call in a professional, and a lot of the time, it’s actually better to as well. A leaking, limescale-ridden dishwasher isn’t the kind of thing you have to tackle. Let a pro sort it out, get a convenient repair done, and save yourself the time and effort.
Track Spending as it Happens
It’s incredibly easier to do this nowadays than it was even just three or four years ago. Most banking apps now offer ‘insights’ into how much you spend, where you spend it, and how often.
And when you track spending as it happens, you’ve already got all the notes you need to go over the budget at the end of the month. You won’t be hunting for receipts or trying to remember why an extra $20 is missing.
You’ve tracked it as it happened and saved yourself a headache!
Home management is stressful, and don’t let anyone tell you different! But there are some ways to get on top of this.
