September Meal Plan

one month of meal plans in this post -- most dinners include Fall seasonal foods. So great for back to school

When was the last time the kids said "mmmm. It smells so great in here, what's for dinner?" For all my love of grilling and summer meals al fresco, there's something to be said about filling a home with the warm smells of dinner. So, in September, I try to mix the delightful smells filling the kitchen with grilling, so long as it's warm enough to be outside. Of course, we're also back to school and sports, which means a lot more structured time and a lot more cooking time under … [Read more...]

Your August Meal Plan for Family Dinners

August meal plan -- 5 weeks of summer meals that are fun and easy for your family

After spending Sunday laying in bed and on the couch feeling sick, the last thing I wanted to think about was what I was making for dinner this week. Realistically, I have 4 other mouths to feed besides my own and I know they'll be hungry, even if I won't. I can't even tell you how grateful I am that I'd already meal planned and just had to grab the grocery list from the meals listed for August without any additional thought. For those of you new to meal planning, be sure to read my basic … [Read more...]

August Meal Plan

Gazpacho! That's one of my all-time favorite summer foods. I love that you can just take a bunch of tomatos and other garden veggies and make a soup that tastes more and more and more and more delish as the week continues. I might have snuck it in last week. We'll definitely have it this week. Enjoy lots of yum this month! For those of you new to meal planning, be sure to read my basic tips for meal planning post. 5 Weeks of Summer Dinners: A menu plan for August

August meal plan -- 5 weeks of summer meals that are fun and easy for your family

I'm tempted to start calling August "Auggie" now, because of my love for Wonder. Of course, Topanga and Cory's little guy is named Auggie, too, in Girl Meets World (did you know the actor who plays Auggie is named August!?) But I digress. August doesn't just make me think of favorite media, but it makes me think of hot, hot days and lots and lots of barbecue. So there's a definite trend toward BBQ on the menu this month, especially this week. In fact, in addition to getting the ingredients to … [Read more...]

Family Dinners: July Meal Plan Menu

july meal plan - 5 weeks of summer dinners for your family menu

This time of year always stings. I love summer so much, and, in mid-July, I have to admit that it's half over. It's not, not really. Technically, Summer is half over around the first week of August, but it's hard to count the first few weeks of September as Summer, isn't it? So, I need to remind myself to savor the summer. To take advantage of every free-flowing, relaxing moment. Every glass of wine on the deck. Every splash through the sprinkler. Every lazy morning. Every ray of sun that shines … [Read more...]

July Meal Plan

july meal plan - 5 weeks of summer dinners for your family menu

One year ago, this week, I tilted the table and created the first Julieverse Meal Plan Calendar. Forget weekly, this was whole month of meals. I found that offering a month at a time offered readers more opportunity to plan (they didn't have to wait for Monday) and it offers everyone an opportunity to get more ideas to balance your week and month. So, here it is. The beginning of the 2nd annual monthly meal plan calendar! This plan was created to help you plan cooking 5 weeks of summer … [Read more...]

What’s for dinner? Here’s your meal plan for June

Last week, while shopping at Wegmans, I noticed that they now sell frozen salmon burgers, mahi-mahi burgers and several other types of pre-made fish burgers. The cost was less than $8 for four burgers, which is fairly reasonable compared to making it yourself, especially when you're on limited time and want your family to enjoy the healthy benefits of eating fish and seafood. Sadly, for a family of 5, the price is just under $16, which doesn't make it quite as great of a deal. I still may try … [Read more...]
