Special K introduces new 100-calorie Snack Bars

“No time for breakfast–grab a cereal bar!”

“Did you pack a snack bar for halftime?”

“Almost all set for our road trip, just have to stop at the store for cereal bars.”

“Oh my goodness… I am so craving a cereal bar!”

I say every one of these sentences regularly. Cereal bars have become staples in our home, and our family is constantly discussing the merits of them as we try new ones, or as we have a hunger craving. They’ve become what candy bars once were: the easy to eat, go-to snack (or, on occasion, breakfast) that we can grab to perk us up mid-day when hunger is calling. Should there be a time when I’m out of cereal bars, we’ll have to call Houston; we’ll have a problem.

Since first trying Special K’s variety of healthy cereal bars, we’ve been fans. My oldest, who is Lactose Intolerant, and, now, dislikes cheese unless it’s on pizza or in a quesadilla (he won’t even eat a grilled cheese sandwich!), and who has never liked yogurt, has recently decided he doesn’t like drinking milk. Special K’s Greek Yogurt Protein Bars have become one of our only resources for Calcium for him.

Meanwhile, with Little’s allergies, we’re finding cereal and snack bars to be a difficult snack for her to enjoy, but Special K has a variety and many of them are free of her allergens.

Introducing Special K® Chewy Snack Bars

New to the Special K Cereal Bar family are Special K® Chewy Snack Bars, giving us a new, healthier, lower calorie option snack. While the protein bars and cereal bars help us with our on-the-go mornings, repeating a cereal’s worth of food at snacktime wasn’t always what we needed. Sometimes, we just need a 100-calorie snack to get us through to dinner or from after-school to after-school sports.

Special K sent our family samples of their new line up of cereal bars and snack time today was all-hands in. They offer four delicious flavors – Berry Medley, Blueberry Bliss, Salted Caramel Chocolate and Salted Pretzel Chocolate, and are perfect for grabbing and going (something my kids and I are getting very good at) because they’re chewy, so no annoying crumbs in the car. As a mom concerned with what my kids are putting in their bodies, I love that the ingredient list is small and easy — wholesome ingredients like ich chocolatey chunks, crunchy salted pretzels, real fruit pieces and chewy rolled oats.

In addition to on the go, as a work-from-home mom, I’m enjoying my Special K® Chewy Snack Bars mixed in with quick and easy lunches. Broken up into little pieces, I mixed it into my Greek Yogurt for lunch. I’ve also enjoyed it in lieu of a piece of bread as a healthy side to my salad.

Special K® Chewy Snack Bars will be available on grocery store shelves throughout the US this month, retailing for only $2.69 per box. Each box contains 6 bars. You can follow Special K on Facebook and twitter.
