Well, I pretty much said it all in the title. I mean, what fashion-blogger has this great idea to write a post about fanny packs? Not many. Because, fanny packs? Not so fashionable. But. There comes a time when they’re a necessity. It’s pretty rare, actually. But it happens. I was in denial when it happened to me.
See, I asked on Facebook for must-do tips for our upcoming trip to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. And while I got some good suggestions, a friend told me that I’ll (yikes!) need a fanny pack.
I LOLed it off and commented that I’ll be good with my little Vera Bradley wristlet, like I have been at Disney the past few times I’ve been.
Then another friend, an Orlando-local, joined the conversation. She said that Universal is really strict about what they allow on rides. That anything not directly attached to your body will be put in a locker at the entrance to the ride. (Which just sounds like a mega-hassle each time we go on a ride.)
Thus. I’m shopping for a (GASP!) Fanny Pack. Why is it worthy of a Fashion Friday post, if it isn’t really fashionable? Because there will come a time in your life when you’ll need to know what’s available and where to find it. Yep. Go ahead. Bookmark this post as “things I never thought I’d need but Julie tells me I will someday.” Or just in your future travel to Universal folder. That’ll work, too.
There are also quite a few handmade and vintage bags on Etsy. I found that by searching “hip bags” I found a better variety.
