It seems we’ve officially hit the beginning of tweenhood. A very sweet, very cute girl seems to have a crush on my son. I nonchalantly asked him about her recently, after she, giggling, was asking for him: “We play Mario Party together a lot in the Game Room [at our gym.] She’s fun.” As we enter into this new stage, I wonder:
- Do girls still call boys on the old-fashioned phone and giggle, then hang up? If not (I mean, hello? Caller ID!) what’s the new alternative?
- What do kids do for group dates these days? Is it still thirteen kids going to the movies? Do they deliberately try to all go to Target at the same time? (Please tell me this doesn’t start until age 17!!)
- How do boys respond? And do boys get the same crushy-reaction as girls? Do boys even realize that girls may have crushes?
Big and I have talked about crushes a bit before. He’s always talked about which friends like which friends at school. (So, yes. Parents of classmates… I’m in the know.) But he’s never really spoken about himself–though I can usually get a good read from his reaction– don’t tell him, but the kid really needs to work on his poker face!
#VlogMom QOTW: First Crush
I recorded this week’s #VlogMom response a few weeks ago (prompted by Alissa of Clever Compass):
tell us about your first crush!
