According to About.com, Sandra Bullock’s jewelry during the 2013 Oscars was created by Harry Winston and was composed of platinum and diamonds. “She wore a cluster brooch in her hair, diamond ear studs and a platinum and diamond ring.” Jessica of Found the Marbles shared
I was curious whether Sandra Bullock’s hair jewelry at the Oscars might start a trend…
I’ve always loved hair jewelry at the right occasion. Sandra’s pin-straight style on Sunday night provided a formal look that was complemented, let’s face it, electrified, by this amazing brooch pinned in her hair. It was right for a formal event. Would it do as well at Wegmans on a Tuesday morning? No. Not even on a Saturday night.
Women of a certain age (okay, generically speaking, Moms) should avoid wearing tiara-like hair accessories on most occasions. A little fun in the hair for a formal occasion is acceptable, but anything more and you’re looking like you fell into a styling session with your 4-year-old daughter.
That said, the majority of style polls asking for feedback on Sandra’s hair are showing an overwhelming love of the look: 83% love on Hollywood Life and 86% love on Bellasugar, and I’m in agreement. It looked ravishing and balanced the shine in her stunning Elie Saab gown.
How can you get the Sandra Bullock look?
If you’re going to wear hair jewelry, it’s important to wear it right. Low and just behind the ear, she wasn’t flaunting it over the head, it was strategically placed to keep her hair from her face and was nearly an afterthought as you can’t view it from the front. A piece of this exquisiteness requires a straight, styled hair–afterall, who would hide platinum and diamonds under curls?
Bullock’s style wasn’t actually created from hair jewelry. Her stylist used two brooches and attached them to a barrette, clip or comb for the look. You’re likely to find unique brooches at a consignment shop that will attach to a simple comb as well.

If you’re going to dress up your hair, especially so close to your ears, be sure to stick very little other jewelry above the neckline. Wear diamond or CZ studs if you feel naked without earrings.

I love hair jewelry .. but nothing stays in my hair too thin. I have to use a lot of hair spray.

I loved her look at the Oscars. As someone who has a side part I think it’s a great way to do something a little different without going crazy.
I’m a serial side part-er, too. I love the look.
