Great gifts for less than $20
Facebook All-in-One For Dummies
You’ll find this in the technology area of your local bookstore. It’s the perfect gift for the rising thirteen-year-old who wants to wrap his hands around Facebook as soon as he’s able; for those in our parents’ and grandparents’ generations who Facebook to keep in touch with their children and grandchildren, but email you, the all-knowing Facebook resource, every time they have a question, problem, or concern (Facebook, they say in their status update, how dare you share my status update with the world?, while you quickly respond, check your privacy settings, again.; and even for those attempting Facebook marketing for their small business. Facebook for Dummies is 6 books in 1 and includes everything from Creating a Personal Timeline to Building a Facebook Fan Page to Developing Facebook Apps. While I keep it on my bookshelf and turn to it any time a client has a question, I’m also considering gifting it to clients and family this year so that they have easy access to answer their own questions. (This book was provided as a sample and is co-written by a friend, Melanie Nelson.)
iPad app games
If you have an iPad in the family, then consider a last minute gift like Pressman Toys’ iPieces, which are less than $10 on Amazon right now. We have both iPieces Fishing Game By Pressman Toys and iPieces Air Hockey Game by Pressman Toys
and the kids have so much fun with them. While I’m not a huge fan of sharing my iPad, I do enjoy watching the fun play as they interact with toys that work with the apps. The accompaniying apps are free and the small pieces are iPad-glass safe. If you’re gifting an iPad to your family, then this gift is a great add on!
Brave
and Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
I rarely buy DVDs any longer, but our collection of children’s classics continues to grow. And by classics, I mean the movies destined to be. This year, be sure to add Brave and The Lorax to your family collection–these are movies you’ll all want to watch again and again. These are great gifts for families with children of all ages–newborn on up!
