How I rocked my Rockstar jeans

So, I got this gig from Clever Girls Collective and Old Navy. It’s a fashion post and, therefore, Fashion Friday is coming to you on Thursday on Julieverse. But. Anyway. The story is that I was asked to post about Rockstar jeans from Old Navy.

Now, those of you who know me know I take my assignments very seriously. And when I learned that Old Navy’s Rockstar jeans were just $19 this week, well, I just had to go figure out how to wear them in real life. And so, I walked into the store where the Rockstar jeans were, of course, sitting on the front table, displayed as a rainbow. (Guess who’s camera had an uncharged battery?) Yes. A rainbow of jeans. Colors. Bright, bright colors. Oh… the choices. I didn’t just grab 1 pair. I mean, who could? No… I grabbed 4 pairs: yellow, blue, green and purple. I considered orange and red, to complete the rainbow, you know? I just might go back and buy them today.

So, now picture petite little me, walking through Old Navy with 4 pairs of bright colored jeans in her hands and Little begging to run to the back of the store to see her clothes (by the way, they have Rockstar jeans for littles. She now is the proud owner of pink, blue and purple jeans. Just. Because.) Anyway, I’m walking around with these jeans and realizing that this year, they match EVERYTHING. Because? Because everyone is dressing in monochrome. And everyone is dressing in clashing colors. And everyone is mixing colors and brights and pastels and patterns and polka dots and plaids… you name it, it actually works.

So what did I do? Well… I bought. A lot. And then I went home to try it all on (and I mean all of it.) And, oh my goodness, you can rock the Rockstar jeans in anything. I can comb through my closet and wear my jeans with old favorites, new sweaters, button downs, t-shirts, cardis…

Here’s what I wore on Monday. When, I swear, I had no less than 11 friends ask me about my yellow jeans. I swear. I should get commission just for wearing these around town. They say everybody can wear these jeans. What do you think?

Here’s a bit of Old Navy’s fashion show, showing so many other ways to rock the Rockstar jeans. Old Navy Presents: The Fit for Fall Fashion Show for All.

    Oops…didn’t finish typing.

I’m not sure everyone can wear that style – me for one. But it does prove that you rock everything you wear. I love the look, I just wish that for the ladies with thighs (read: me) skinny jeans in any color were more wearable!

Julie- You totally rock the jeans. However, I can’t wait for this season to be over already. I can’t find ANY pants anywhere that aren’t skinny and brightly colored. And no one will convince me that this look works on a curvy, pear shaped woman. It’s the opposite of flattering. Considering that everyone keeps talking about how the majority of our country is obese I find this latest trend pretty ironic:)

Love the yellow jeans! Are those purple Privos? They look cool, too.

I think I might head over to Old Navy and pick up a few pairs and bring them home to try on. I can’t try on clothes with the 4 year old tagging along. I can also stop by DSW and pick up ballet flats.

lol. Barb’s going shopping!! Yep, when I bought these pants (and green, and blue, and purple) I also bought about $250 worth of other clothes to try on at home. A lot of it went back. There’s no way I’m taking Little into the dressing room at Old Navy with me! (actually, I don’t like the dressing room at ON out here anyway!)

I’ve been wanting yellow jeans for so long- but have had a hard time finding the right shade. Now that it’s fall, do you think bright yellow is still appropriate? They seem so summery (or springish) to me. Will you wear yours all fall/ winter?

I have 2 yellow skirts and these pants AND a pair of yellow shoes. Most are a tiny bit mustardy, which I think will last all winter. These are definitely a bit bright. But I wear bright colors year round. And they’re comfortable (wearing green ones right now) so I do think that I’ll wear them casually this winter. I’d like to find some that are more mustardy, but haven’t seen that in a pair that fit yet.
