Athleta opens at King of Prussia

Earlier this week, Athleta joined the retailers the King of Prussia Plaza (the country’s biggest retail-space mall). Their preview event, held on Tuesday, benefited Girls on the Run, a national organization inspiring “girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.” (I love this organization. It’s like a modern day Girl Scouts–sorry GSA).

I’ve often drooled over the Athleta catalog, but I’ve never ordered because I’d heard the sizes run a bit small and I didn’t want to have to buy, try, return through the mail. Having a store nearby is going to make shopping Athleta… too easy.

So upon entering the store, I have to admit that I was wowed by the feel and the style. The store was a bit hot and crowded, with a fitting room line of over 20 ladies, so I picked some favorites and made a note to go back midweek next week to actually try them on.

Have to share with you a few of my favorites from the shop:

The hut to hut sweater dress  is probably my favorite of all the sweater dresses (and I’m a big sweater dress fan.) I like it in Boysenberry.

I like this dress, the organic cotton Ribby Sweater Dress, a lot better in person than in this picture. It’s a lighter sweater and the lines are extremely thinning.

Finally, I tried SO hard not to like this sweater wrap, the Lakshmi. I told myself it was too flimsy, too light weight. But once I put it on with jeans, I was sold (and so were 3 other women at the store who were standing around me.) I like it in coastal green, which is really more of a deep aquamarine.

Do you shop Athleta? What are your shopping tips for the store and online?

  1. I may or may not have an Athleta problem :) I own multiple colors of the same pieces, and lots of their bathing suits!

  2. I don’t know about the store, but you brought back good memories with the mention of the King of Prussia mall.
