Hosting a Labor Day Party with Lawry's with a Lawry's giveaway

The first week of August was cooking week on Just Precious. Most of the recipes were inspired by Lawry’s seasoning, as I was part of Team Philly in a competition run by The Motherhood. In this competition, each team was charged with creating recipes for an event using Lawry’s seasonings.

We were charged with creating three recipes. We’re over-achievers.

It was just so easy. And so fun! Each idea led to another which led to another which led to… six items/seven recipes created as a menu for a Lawry’s Labor Day.

Appetizer: Cheesy Baked Artichoke Dip
Main Course: Lawry’s Cedar Plank Salmon with Pineapple Salsa (2 recipes here!)
Sides: Grilled Fresh Vegetables with Lawry’s Marinade and Grilled Corn on the Cob
Dessert: Sweet and Spicy Grilled Strawberries and Peaches
Signature Drink: Sweet & Seasoned Surprise

I’m really proud of our team. We started from scratch creating our menu. And we *never* thought we’d come up with a drink or a dessert using a spicy seasoning. But? They totally worked.

We also had an added challenge: As one of our team members is gluten free, we opted to create a gluten free menu. Adding to that, 2 of our members have garlic intolerance and one is allergic to chocolate and peanuts. So, while we couldn’t avoid the garlic in the seasonings, we were sure to not use additional garlic in our recipes and chocolate and peanuts were out of the question. In addition, we wanted to keep much of the meal fresh and local.

When you consider all these limitations, it was surprisingly “unhard” to pull this menu together.

    Your team really got creative!! I’ve done grilled peaches but never thought about strawberries. I’ll have to try that! Thanks for the ideas.

    I make artichoke dip all the time & it is definitely a fave among my family & friends. Will have to try your version. I’m not a fan of tequila, however I think I could make your Sweet & Seasoned Surprise with rum & it still would taste great!

    I have never seen anything like the Sweet and Spicy Grilled Strawberries and Peaches. I will have to try that!
